Amazing Early American Pressed Glass (EAPG) piece by Adams & Company, introduced in 1882. According to EAPGS, spooners in this pattern come in two different sizes. There is no secondary lip inside the rim for a lid to sit on. Based on this information, I believe this piece is a spooner, rather than a sugar missing a lid.
The design features 3 panels: Sphynx and a pyramid, a broken column (seems to suggest other ancient ruins), and the Parthenon. Says "Ruins of the Parthenon" under the final panel. Various other simple motifs fill in the remaining space. The piece is perched on a nice base.
Measures 5.25" high, 3.5" across the opening and 3" on the foot.
The piece has the lightest lavender color due to sun exposure. A few flea bites on the rim, one small "snowball" flaw in the base, and another flaw on the foot (looks like a chip from the outside, but when you flip the piece over to look at the bottom of the foot, there is no chip present).
Happy to bundle shipping.
