Vintage 1939 Union Pacific Railroad Cane. This cane is an rare find and a must for Railroad collectors along with movie buffs. The cane has the markings either carved or burnt in the side of the cane. 1939 Golden Spikes Days, a celebration of the world premiere of Cecil B. DeMille's film Union Pacific, took place in Omaha April 28, 1939, a four-day celebration known as "Golden Spike Days" was held. The event in Omaha, location of Union Pacific headquarters, involved many parades & a variety of celebrations, as well as the movie premiere. Citizens of Omaha dressed in period costumes for events. Many Omaha men grew a beard and mustache to lend realism to their event costumes. Measures 35 1/2" long.
